                                  15% Homework

100-90% A; 80-89% B; 70-79% C; 69% and below F.

Homework Expectations:

Students are expected to turn in their homework on the day it is due. It is essential that the homework is complete on time to facilitate the students being able to follow along in the class and reinforce what we did in class. Many of the activities are also designed to help the students on the quizzes and unit tests. If the homework is late, the student will get half credit on the first two days late, 25% credit the next two days, 10% credit on Day 5 of being late and a zero after this time. As the term approaches different grading deadlines, these time allotments and point schedules may change due to the need to have grades input into the system on time. REGULAR HOMEWORK COMPLETION IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR STUDENT SUCCESS IN A SECOND LANGUAGE.

Provisions for Improving Grades:

Opportunities designed to allow students to recover from a low or failing cumulative grade will be allowed when all work required to date has been completed and the student has demonstrated a legitimate effort to meet all course requirements, including attendance. If a student retakes a test or quiz during the semester; that grade is then averaged with the original grade. Students should contact the teacher concerning recovery opportunities. Teachers are expected to establish reasonable time period for recovery work to be completed during the semester. All recovery work must be competed within ten school days prior to the end of the semester.

My Contact Information:

Parents may call the school and leave a message for me to call back. The number is 678-297-3240. My email address is woolheater@fulton.k12.ga.us and this is the best way for me to get your messages. Please be patient as there are very busy times that make getting back difficult at times. Parents should also make random checks of their student’s AGENDA for notes I may send home. I attempt to make myself available for the students on Friday mornings for extra help. Please make arrangements with me the day before, so I can make sure that I’m going to be in class or allow you to know that it may not be a good time. If you are absent for an extended period, you should make every effort to come to a help session to get back into the class routine and catch up with the other students.

Absence Make-up Procedures:

Upon returning to school following an absence, it is the student’s responsibility to check the folder and calendar in the classroom to determine make-up work. Make-up work must be completed by the student within the time specified by the teacher. At HMS, the student will be given the same amount of time to make up the work as the student was absent, unless other arrangements are mutually agreed upon. The student will receive credit for make up work if the absence was excused. Make-up work for unexcused absences may be reduced by 6 points in the 6th grade. If the make-up work, is turned in beyond the agreed upon schedule, the student will get half credit on the first two days late, 25% credit the next two days, 10% credit on Day 5 of being late and a zero after this time. As the term approaches different grading deadlines these time allotments and point schedules may change due to the need to have grades input into the system on time.

Conduct:

Good grades follow good conduct, enthusiastic behaviors, and a positive attitude. Students are expected to follow the rules of conduct presented in the HMS student handbook (AGENDA).

It is my sincere hope that you will enjoy my class and take advantage of the opportunity to delve into learning the French language. The more practice you have the easier it will become and the more your confidence will grow; so don’t be too shy. Please let me know if I can help in any way so that your year can be a successful one.
