The Scientific Method

Scientists investigate problems every day.  Sometimes problems are solved quickly and sometimes they take many years to solve.  Some problems remain unsolved!  When scientists try to solve a problem, they usually search for the answer in an orderly way.  This approach is called the SCIENTIFIC METHOD.  You will be using the scientific method in class all year.  The basic steps of the scientific method are:

1.  Stating the PROBLEM

2.  Forming a HYPOTHESIS

3.  Performing an EXPERIMENT

4.  Recording OBSERVATIONS

5.  Stating a CONCLUSION

(Just remember PHEOC!)
