Hispanic Heritage Celebration, October 3

Text Box: Hispanic Heritage month is a national celebration in the United States which began in 1968 as a week-long remembrance.  Today, Hispanic Heritage month begins on September 15, the independence day of five Spanish speaking countries, and ends on October 15, a few days after “Día de la Raza” (Day of Our Race), which celebrates the heritage of many Latin Americans.  Here at Hopewell, our 7th grade Spanish students celebrated by writing essays and making posters of influential Hispanics.  Please enjoy these posters, which are displayed outside the World Language classrooms!  Additionally, the students invited their parents to attend a fiesta (party) on October 3 to give presentations on these influential Hispanics and sample some of the foods from Spanish-speaking countries that we enjoy in the USA.
