Dear Family,

 

We are currently working on Unidad 3, Etapa 1 of Level 1 of the ¡En

español! Spanish program. It focuses on authentic culture and real-life

communication using Spanish in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It practices

reading, writing, listening, and speaking, and introduces students to

culture typical of San Juan.

 

Through completing the activities, students will employ critical thinking

skills as they compare the Spanish language and the culture of San Juan

with their own community. They will also connect to other academic

subjects, using their knowledge of Spanish to access new information. In

this etapa, students are learning to extend invitations, talk on the phone,

express feelings, say where they are coming from, and say what just

happened. They are also learning about grammar— the verb estar with

adjectives, the verbs acabar de and venir, and the verb gustar with

infinitives.

as your student practices reading, writing, listening, and speaking in

Spanish.
