HOPEWELL MIDDLE SCHOOL ORCHESTRA Teresa Hoebeke, Orchestra Director
Dear Parents and Students, August 14, 2007
I want to welcome each of you to the 2007-2008 Hopewell Middle School Orchestra. I am very excited about the new school year and all the wonderful opportunities it will bring. I’m positive this year will prove to be a rewarding and fun year for everyone.
Once again, the HMS orchestras will participate in three school concerts, two cluster concerts, and the GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation Festival in February. Other performing opportunities include the Fulton County Middle School Youth Orchestra, GMEA Solo and Ensemble Festival, GMEA All-State Auditions, and the ASTA Chamber Music Workshop at UGA. Detailed information and concert calendars will be sent home within the next few weeks.
It is so very important that we have the help and support of our orchestra parents. As parents, you are the #1 motivator for your child. A little encouragement can really go along way! By being involved with the orchestra, you are showing your child that you are interested in who they are and what they do. Any assistance that you can provide will be greatly appreciated. If you are interested in assisting the orchestra, please complete the volunteer form that is included in the back of the handbook. We will need help in several areas (publicity, hospitality/refreshments, uniforms, photo/video, chaperones).
This handbook is designed to acquaint you with the guidelines and expectations for all orchestra members. These guidelines are designed to give your musician the best possible musical environment in which to learn and perform. Please read and discuss these guidelines with your student musician. Be sure to keep this handbook close by so that you might refer to it throughout the entire school year.
If you have any questions regarding this handbook or any other matter, please feel free to contact me via email (hoebeket@fultonschools.org), phone (678-297-3240,x169), or written note. I will be happy to respond back within 48 hours.
Musically yours,
Teresa Hoebeke
