Students should eat breakfast before reporting to Hopewell.  The first few hours of the morning will be busy and intense and students will not be permitted to have anything to eat until after arriving at the park.

Students will need money to purchase any food, drinks, and or souvenirs while in the park. It is recommended that students bring a minimum of $25.00 for the day for two meals and snacks/drinks.  Students may bring more money with them, but they are responsible for the safekeeping and wise use of the money they bring.

Any medications that your child requires should be bagged and clearly labeled with your child’s name and instructions for administering.  These medications will be given to your child’s assigned chaperone.

Students are representing their families, their school and Fulton County while on this field trip.  While it is to be a fun day, students must be reminded that we are also there for our performance evaluation in the morning and awards ceremony in the late afternoon.  Their conduct at all times will reflect on all of us.  Students are to follow school rules and Fulton County policies regarding appropriate behavior and any student who does not will be subject to one or more of the following:  remain with Mrs. Fallis for the remainder of the day, be sent home from the park (requiring parents to come to the park for pick-up), and/or further disciplinary action at school on Monday, May 12. Also, students may need cell phones during the day; however, as in school, they are not to be used at any time during the Performance Evaluation Event at Douglasville HS.  Any student who uses their phone during this time will have it taken away.  Students should also not use a cell phone during the Awards Ceremony or it will be taken away.

Reminder:  We appreciate the parents who have volunteered to join us for this trip.  Students are expected to be respectful and follow the directions of the adults who will be chaperoning this trip.  Any reports of disrespect will result in consequences at the park and/or follow-up on our return to school.

Dress: Students must wear the red polo-style Chorus shirt and jeans/denim shorts (appropriate length; no ragged or frayed ends) and tennis shoes (NO FLIP-FLOPS allowed!!!)  There will be many band, orchestra, and chorus students in the park.  It is MANDATORY that the students wear their chorus shirts (I still have a few available if needed: $20.00) for the duration of the trip for safety and identification purposes!  This also eliminates the need to bring other clothing, bags, etc. to keep up with during the day.  (We may not be on the same buses to return home.)

Final Thoughts:  This event is designed to be a wonderful day to celebrate the accomplishments of the year and to enjoy the fun of a day together.  Since we all can have our moments of “melt-down” let me encourage everyone to approach this day with a great attitude  . . . .

ü Leave your stuff at home (ipods, etc.) so it won’t be lost or stolen

ü Pack a little extra patience:  it may be crowded, it may rain, etc.

ü Remember your words are like toothpaste (you can’t get them back once   they’re out of the tube/mouth) so think before you speak

ü A little kindness to your fellow students, to our parents, to the festival workers, to the employees at Six Flags, to our bus drivers. . .will be long remembered after the day.

ü Following directions makes life easier for everyone, especially you!

ü Take time to eat something nutritious during the day; you will be able to maintain your energy better!

ü Be flexible if we need to adjust our schedule.

ü Be prompt with assigned meeting times so others aren’t waiting on you!

ü Have a great time!

*Parents:  We will all appreciate your prompt pick-up of your child from Hopewell at 9:30 pm and will ask students to call you if there is any delay in our arrival time. Thanks!
