Absence Make-up Procedures: Because Choral Music is a performance art, created with others, it is expected that students and their families will make every effort to be in attendance for performances. Students are only excused from performances when the request is submitted in writing prior to the performance, except in the case of sudden illness of loss of family member/friend. Please note: Absences will be excused at the director’s discretion. Due to the effects of individual absences from concerts, performances count as %25 of the student’s grade. When students miss class work or a performance, the following guidelines will be used in assigning alternate work: Class work: Daily work can be made up through homework assignments, as necessary. Concerts: Students with an excused absence from a concert will be given an alternate written assignment/project. Absences from performances are STRONGLY discouraged.
