7th Grade PE

Course Description:  Students will be offered a variety of sports and activities.  Through each year the primary goal of instruction is to improve motor skills and fitness levels, develop an appreciation of activity, and provide opportunity for success in movement.

 

Course Outline: Activities may include the following:

Fitness Assessment, Soccer, Aerobics, Flag Football, Gymnastics, Recreational Games, Basketball, Outdoor Education, Softball, Tennis, Dance, Badminton, Pickleball,  and Lacrosse

 

Class Expectations: The student is expected to dress out and participate each day.  Students are expected to behave appropriately during all class activities.  In the event that a student is unable to participate in physical education, a parent’s note will be accepted and the staff will modify the activity.  For conditions that require more than three days, a doctor note will be required.

 

Unit Objectives:

Strand: Physical Education

1. Participates in fitness assessment activities for the purpose of improving skill performance and physical fitness.

2. Uses fitness assessment results to develop a goal statement and plan for improving and maintaining flexibility.

3. Implements a personal fitness plan that applies basic training principles.

4. Describe the difference between health- and skill- related fitness.

5. Engages in physical activity at the target heart rate for a minimum of 20 minutes.

6. Demonstrates and applies advanced movement skills, rules and strategies in a variety of settings.

7. Performs complex educational gymnastics and dance sequences that combine advanced movement concepts and skills.

8. Identifies and applies principles of practice and conditioning that enhance performance, sports, lifetime activities, and track and field.

9. Identifies and applies basic skills and procedures necessary for outdoor pursuits.

Choose appropriate behavior to work productively with partner and in a group to accomplish goals in both cooperative and competitive activities.

 

 

Grading:

The nine week average will be calculated in the following 2 areas and will follow the Fulton County grading scale:

1. Dressing Out 40%

Participation & Tests 60%

 

Fulton County Schools Grading Systems:

90-100 = A

80-89 = B

70-79 = C

Below 70 = F

 

Make Up Work:

If student is absence it is their responsibility to pick-up an absentee make-up form.  The completed form is due within three days of the absence.

Class Rules:

1. Be on time. Excessive tardies will result in detention.

2. Come to class prepared with all required supplies.

3. Be respectful of classmates and teacher at all times.

Participation in all class activities.

 

Behavior:

Proper conduct is expected at all times. Failure to follow class rules will result in the following actions:

1. Verbal Warning

2. Parent Contact via agenda, email or phone and private student/teacher conference.

3. Student removed from class for the period and given alternate assignment/parent contacted.

4. Private Detention

Formal Office Conduct Referral

 

Scheduled Help Sessions:

Teachers are available for help sessions daily from 8:00 – 8:30. Please see your teacher to schedule an appointment.

 

Lock: The replacement cost of a lost lock will be $6.00
