Linda Blackburn

Although I was raised in the South, I was born in Bainbridge, Maryland. I received my undergraduate degree in fine art from Mississippi College, and am currently pursing a Master's Degree in Art Education at Georgia State University. I am also certified to teach reading. The professional accomplishment I am most proud of is achieving National Board Certification in the area of Adolescent and Young Adult Art. This experience has made  me a more effective teacher and I highly recommend this process to all teachers. I was also honored to be selected as Teacher of the Year at Taylor Road Middle School during the 2003/04 school year.

I am married and have two children, Daniel, age 28, and Lauren, age 25, and a stepson Will, age 14. Before beginning my teaching career twelve years ago, I worked as an interior designer, and a professional photographer. My hobbies include soapmaking, printmaking, pottery, flower arranging, computer graphics, web design, decorating, and many other art related endeavors. I have dabbled in just about every art media that exists, including stained glass, pottery, printmaking, painting, and a variety of crafts. I also enjoy working out at the gym, hiking, and bike riding.
