FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCE SYLLABUS

1) Textbook:                  Today’s Teen                  $32.49

 

2) Course Description:  In the Family and Consumer Sciences program students will explore the areas of resource management, nutrition and wellness, textiles and apparel and self development through written and hands-on activities.

 

3) Grading Scheme: 

Daily Classroom Work……………………..   40%

Tests, Quizzes and Evaluations………..30%

 Projects and Modules………………………. 30%

 

4) Projects and Homework:  Projects and homework assignments related to class activities may be assigned.  Students will be informed of assignments and due dates.

 

5) Scheduled help session:  Students may make an appointment to come in early or stay after school to get additional help or to work on incomplete assignments.  Talk to Mrs. Adams to set up convenient time for student and teacher.

 

6) Teacher/Parent Communication:  All students will receive an interim report at 4 ˝ weeks, and a progress report at the end of 9 nine weeks.  Parents please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding you child.

7.) Make up Work Procedures:  Upon returning to school following any absence, it is the student’s responsibility to contact the teacher to request make-up work.  Any make-up work, or missing work not submitted will receive a zero.

 

CLASS MATERIALS

All students are requested to have a two pocket folder with notebook paper that will be left in class for daily in class assignments.  A pencil or pen is a daily requirement.

In addition 6th graders are requested to bring in $5.00 to cover the cost of materials for their PENNANT PROJECT.

 

CLASS EXPECTATIONS

All rules, policies, and procedures outlined in the Hopewell handbook will be applied in the FACS classroom.

 

The class rules have been set up so that each student has the opportunity to work in an educational environment where learning can take place and tasks be completed.  No individual student or situation will be permitted to interfere with instruction or the learning environment.

Be ready to learn
