Minutes of Hopewell MS Local School Council

April 2, 2008

 

Members Present: Bill Thompson, Erin Bolling, Laura Commandy, Tina D/Aversa, Janice Etscovitz Michelle Olsen, and Julie Pinckney.

 

Members Absent: Steve Colitz

 

1. Call to Order: Bill Thompson called the meeting to order at 5:07 PM.

 

2. Approval of Agenda: The agenda was approved as presented.

 

3. Approval of Minutes: The minutes were approved as presented.

 

4. Old Business –

· March 26th is the last Early Release Day for this school year. Topics to be covered are:

a)   ESOL Presentation re: services provided to ESOL students and modifications for instruction.

b)   Dr Martin will meet with the Lighthouse Application group.

c)   Connections Teachers will present  to core teachers information about the  Connections Program and Curriculum.

· April 19th Mustang Stampede

· April Lunch n’ Learn with Jan Jones will be April 29th.

· Milton Grows Green Committee – due to conflicts in the schedule, activities have been postponed for this year.

 

 

5. New Business -

· CRCT will be administered April 17th-24th, 8:45 AM to 11:00 AM.

· LSAC Member Elections -

a) Teachers – elections will be held in May for three teacher vacancies.

b) Parents - An announcement will be placed in the school newsletter asking for nominations. Candidate biographies will be available prior to voting in August at Curriculum Night.

c) Business - Mr. Thompson will ask Ms Derryberry to inquire for non-voting business candidates.

6. Additional Business –

Preliminary budget will be available at the May LSAC meeting.

Instructional Audit – Math Curriculum – a traditional math textbook will be purchased for K-8 to support the Connected Math textbook. High school math courses will incorporate the best of both styles of math instruction Connected and Traditional Math. A textbook adoption committee will be selected to choose the new textbook.

 

7. Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 6:13 Pm. Our next meeting will be May 7, 2008.
