Text Box: MINUTES OF Hopewell MS Localschool council November 7, 2007 Members present: Cathi Barlow, Erin Bolling, Laura Commandy, Tina D’Aversa, Janice Etscovitz, Michelle Olsen and Julie Pinckney. Members absent: Steve Colitz 1.  Call to Order: Cathi Barlow called the meeting to order at 5:20 PM.                                                  2.   Approval of Agenda: The agenda was accepted with two additional items, ITBS Scores and School Calendars.   3.  Approval of Minutes: motion passed to approve minutes as presented. 4. Old Business- New Principal Search – the Search Committee will interview Principal Candidates November 19th. E Mail Broadcast Protocol – the PTA will now use the Email Program “Constant Contact” and pay the subscription fee. The protocol is still under construction and will be announced later. 5. New Business- Math – the new Math Curriculum is a concern at several schools in the county. Principals were asked to determine if we need additional resources to support parents and students with this new curriculum. A suggestion was made and accepted by LSAC to schedule a day when parents will be invited to observe their child’s math class. The date will be announced after the Math Teachers have been consulted. Local School Council Training – several parents attended the workshops and reported that our council is on target with the intent of the legislation. ITBS Scores – our 8th grade students had significant gains in every single area. Proposed School Calendars – the 2008-2009 and the 2009-2010 School Calendars were presented. 6. Informational Items – International Dinner - January 31, 2008 Asia Day – 7th grade – November 20, 2007 Beautification Day – November 3, 2007 – sponsored by SSO and PTA Lunch n’ Learn – October 16, 2007 7. Adjournment – The meeting adjourned at 5:52 PM. The next meeting will be December 5, 2007.
