Color Guard Information Sheet

 

The AHS Raider Band Color Guard is a critical component of the Marching Band Ensemble. The Color Guard adds to the visual artistry of the halftime show with colorful flag work and spinning rifles. Color Guard members are selected by tryouts in the spring. Incoming freshmen are welcome to tryout. Color Guard members are not required to play a band instrument or to take a band class.

 

Color Guard members participate in all marching band practices and performances starting with band camp in late July and continuing through the completion of football season in November. Additional information about the time and financial commitment required by Guard members will be available at tryouts.

 

Here is what you need to know regarding tryouts:

· A mini camp will be held April 14 - 17th from 4:00 - 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at AHS. At the mini camp, basic flag work and the routine for tryouts will be taught.

· Tryouts will be Friday, April 18th from 4:00 - 6:30 also in the AHS Cafeteria. More information will be available at the mini camp. Tryouts are not open to the public.

· Attire for the mini camp is comfortable sports wear and athletic shoes (closed toe!). Bring a water bottle.
